Archbishop, Pope join forces to tackle human trafficking

Archbishop Justin Welby and Pope Francis are joining forces to raise awareness of the evil of human trafficking.

Among other events, they are planning to organise a charity cricket match to take place in September, to draw attention to the issue.

The archbishop said ‘you can use an unusual event to draw attention to this very serious problem.  It is one of the most devastating on the planet’.

He also challenged the Church to ensure that their activities were ‘traffic-proof’, saying that the supply chain was often complex and hidden.
