Post 1: CAMPAIGNS & RESEARCH Volunteer
Croydon Community Against Trafficking (CCAT) is a voluntary coalition of people from all walks of life. We work to raise awareness about human trafficking, oppression, and the enslavement of people, that exists in our own community. We work with local, regional and national agencies and seek to respect human rights at all times.
Job Description
Location: Croydon. We can consider remote-working
Duration: 6-9 months with possibility of extension
Salary: This position is unpaid but travel expenses will be covered. We would encourage candidates to attend learning and development opportunities and invite them to networking events pertaining to Modern Slavery.
Person Specification
Do you have experience of campaigning for pressing social issues? Would you like to use your experience to help a small charity to raise their profile and help the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking?
You will be a graduate and an excellent communicator who has a passion for campaign work. You will be able to take initiative, be a multi-tasker and be able to come up with creative solutions to help our campaign work, develop and manage relationships and have excellent written skills with a track record of writing pieces that are persuasive and impactful.

Experience of campaigning/lobbying (local or national) to raise the profile of a social issue

Experience of engaging with policy makers and wide range of stakeholders

Experience in desk top research. Quantitative and Qualitative research skills welcome.

Assist in developing our ‘Community Campaigners’ programme, helping to inform and inspire locals to take action against modern slavery

Develop campaign materials and resources including speakers and campaign packs for community groups and individuals interested in becoming Community Campaigners

Assist with giving talks about our work across Croydon and London

Research forms of exploitation such as Bonded labour with the view of expanding the work of CCAT and feed into policy document(s)

Have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex information accurately and disseminate to a diverse audience

Attend meetings with the CCAT Manager at local forums, networking events and community groups

POST 2: COMMUNICATIONS AND EVENTS Volunteer

Do you have experience running successful events for charitable causes? Would you like to use your expertise to help a small charity to raise their profile and help the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking? The successful candidate will be required to help oversee communications and events for CCAT. This will include coming up with creative ideas to raise awareness of the issue of modern slavery locally and promote our work via social media channels.

POST 3: FUNDRAISING Volunteer

Are you an experienced Fundraiser? Would you like to use your expertise to help a small charity to increase their fundraising income and help the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking? The successful candidate will be required to research funding opportunities from individuals, trusts, companies, local businesses and explore funding streams from running events to help CCAT campaign against the abhorrent practice of modern slavery. The role will be of particular interest to someone wanting to gain knowledge of and experience supporting fundraising in all streams.

POST 4: INTELLIGENCE GATHERING Volunteer

We work with local, regional and national agencies and seek to respect human rights at all times.
Job Description
Location: Croydon. We can consider remote-working
Commitment: Arranged with Manager. Attending a 3-hour team meeting per month. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year after training.
Salary: This position is unpaid but travel expenses can be covered. We would encourage candidates to attend learning and development opportunities and invite them to networking events pertaining to Modern Slavery.
Person Specification
Intelligence gathering is a key part of the work we do at CCAT. The Intelligence Gathering team work in partnership with the police, council and the modern slavery partnership helpline to record findings and report them accordingly. The team contacts dubious establishments using the red flag system, to determine if there are trafficked persons. We take safeguarding extremely seriously and do not permit volunteers to visit establishments selling sex or massage parlours in person. Some field research may be undertaken with another volunteer in daylight at a nail bar or a car wash for example.
